“Tails and Tales” is the 2025 Summer Reading Program theme.

From Monday, June 2, through Thursday, July 17, the Oskaloosa Public Library will be hosting the 2025 Summer Reading Program for children, teens, and adults, with programs inside the Library and outside in the Reading Garden. Throughout the summer, all ages will read tales and learn about tails in the wild, the ocean, the farm, the city, from the past, of winged animals, and fairy tales.

The goals of the Oskaloosa Public Library’s Summer Reading Program are to encourage all ages to read and to provide opportunities for learning and enjoyment for all. It is also our desire that each participant will be able to bring something more than knowledge and experience away from the library. The Summer Reading Program is free to all participants, but it still has some monetary costs, including special guests, grand prizes, and reading incentives such as books, educational games, and toys.

Last summer, 886 children, teens, and adults participated in the program, reading over 22,754 hours. This was 94 more participants and 4,398 more hours than 2024. With your help, we’re excited to increase those numbers in 2025!
