Most Iowa residents are entitled to a free library card. Proof of current address and a photo I.D. are required. Please visit the circulation desk on the 1st floor to obtain a card.

Patrons of any age who are getting a Library card for the first time, or have been removed from the system and are re-applying for a card, will be considered "NEW USERS" for the first three months of having a card. NEW USERS will be unable to borrow items from the Library of Things and will have a limit of ten items per card. At the end of three months, the account can be renewed and full borrowing privileges will begin at that time.

Children must be at least 3 years old to have a card under their name. Children and teens under the age of 18 must appear with a parent or legal guardian in order to get a card.

A library card must be presented in order to check out materials or use a computer. For the protection of cardholders, we will not check out materials to a person's account unless the card is presented. Replacement cards are $5.00.

Books, CDs, audio books, magazines and non-fiction videos can all be checked out for three weeks. These items may be renewed once in person, by phone or online. Music CDs are limited to 5 per library card.

DVD and Blu-Ray feature films and DVD games are due by closing on the eighth day after check out. There is a limit of 5 of each format per library card. These items may be renewed once in person, by phone or online.

Holds can be placed on any item in the building that is currently checked out to another patron.  Once
the item is returned, you will be notified by phone or email.  You have 3 days from when you are notified that the your hold is available, to pick up your hold.

Items can be returned inside the library on the 1st floor or by using our convenient drive-through located on the west side of the building.
