Getting a Library Card:
Most Iowa residents are entitled to a free library card. Proof of current address and a photo I.D. are required. Please visit the circulation desk on the 1st floor to obtain a card.Children must be at least 3 years old to have a card under their name.
The parent or legal guardian of those under the age of 18 must be present in order for minors to receive a library card.
Patrons of any age who are getting a Library card for the first time, or who are e-applying for a card due to non-use, will be considered "NEW USERS" for the first three months of having a card. NEW USERS will be unable to borrow items from the Library of Things and will have a limit of ten items per card. At the end of three months, the account can be renewed and full borrowing privileges will begin at that time.
Using your Library Card:
In order to check out materials, a library card or photo I.D. must be presented. For the protection of cardholders, materials cannot be checked out to a person's account unless the card is presented. Replacement cards are $5.00.Books, music CDs, audio books, Library of Things items, puzzles, kits, and non-fiction videos can all be checked out for three weeks. These items may be renewed once in person, by phone, or online. Music CDs are limited to 5 per library card.
DVD and Blu-Ray feature films are due by closing on the eighth day after check out. These items may be renewed once in person, by phone, or online. DVD and Blu-ray feature films are limited to 5 per library card.
Holds can be placed on most items in the building. Once the item is collected by a staff member or returned, you will be notified by email or phone. You have 3 days from when you are notified that your hold is available to be pick up your hold.
Items can be returned inside the library on the 1st floor or by using our convenient drive-through located on the west side of the building.
