Davie Ann S. One for the Money by Janet Evanovich ~ MYS EVAN I felt the need to re-read "One for the Money" before I went to see the feature film release of the same title. Once again I found myself laughing out loud to the crazy antics of Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter. Janet Evanovich has a way of combining adventure, love, romance, and comedy into a hilarious fiction novel. I am not a big fan of fiction novels but Janet weaves a web that I find difficult to escape from once I open one of her books. |

Nancy J. By the Iowa Sea: A Memoir by Joe Blair ~ 977.74 BLAI What first attracted me to this book were the reviews I read in several different publications. I picked it up, began to read and was immediately interested. It spoke of Iowa City and Coralville, and the flood there that took out much of the main strip between the two. Then Blair began to reveal details about his wife and family, his severely autistic son, and his place in their lives. He questions why he is where he is, why he does what he does, and who he loves. He arrives at the answers by working the sandbag line at the river, meeting up with a fellow writer and taking a long hard look at his marriage. |

Wanda G. Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination the Changed America Forever by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard ~ 973.7 OREI Take the record of Lincoln's assassination, add additional conspiracy flair and a bit of psychology, and you've got a new history that is a real page-turner! I've read other factual book on Lincoln's assassination, but this one by Bill O'Reilly takes all the other facts just a step further, analyzing relationships, motivations and egos. O'Reilly follows all the participants leading up to April 14, 1865, tossing in trivia that is fascinating. While eight conspirators were hanged and Booth was killed, O'Reilly points the finger at other aides, security guards, and the Secretary of War, who were all likely part of the plot against Lincoln. |
